Today we live in a world that is fighting a pandemic, and systemic racism, all at the same time. As a cisgender white woman I know that this fight is not my own. But I know that I can do my part in helping those around me thrive. It is up to people like me to help support those around us that are not privileged. There are so many ways to do this, but something that has caught my eye is seeking out and supporting local black owned businesses.

In my county this information is not readily available, but I did some searching and found that the North Bay Bohemian shared their own resources to help people like me continue to support locally and black owned!

If you are looking to visit the area (while safely social distancing!), check out a few of my favorite spots and book with some of Sonoma County’s best:

Abyssinia Restaurant

If you want to expand your palette and try foods from different cultures, this is an amazing place to start! Inside is very clean and beautifully decorated with lights, plants, and red tablecloths. To make things even better, they have vegan and vegetarian options!

Lotus Beauty Bar

Local, black owned, and beautiful! Lotus Beauty Bar is a full service organic skincare spa that specializes in facials, peels, waxing and tinting. If you are like me and gravitate towards organic health and wellness, this is the perfect place for you.

Sonoma Crust

For delicious beignets, waffle sandwiches, and fried chicken look no further! Always fresh and cooked from scratch, check out their Instagram and try not to drool.

Corner 103

If you are visiting Sonoma County you are probably wine tasting, and why wouldn’t you? Corner 103 boasts a beautiful open, airy tasting room with award winning wines and delicious local foods.
